Position: Trainee Analyst Programmer
I am an Infrastructure Qualirty Assurance tester. I have achieved the ISEB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing as part of my training. My main role is in automation which involves setting up test scripts in TestPartner using Visual Basic, and load tests which are performed using QALoad. Other non-functional testing involves regression testing prior to software releases on the core system.
The role also involves organisation of UAT test bases, running Report Writer enquiries in Jade, scheduling batch jobs and administering access to the core system.

I worked as a senior project leader responsible for a large client based in London. Position: Senior Analyst/Programmer
I worked for the second largest tour operator in Britain which owned several tour companies and an airline. My main role was as a systems analyst/project leader in charge of two programmers.
I programmed in VAX BASIC and VAX PASCAL under a VMS operating system on DEC VAX clusters. The VAX machines were linked to Viewdata terminals at travel agents across the country.
I used PMW and Freelance on IBM PCs to write feasibility studies, functional, technical and program specifications. I attended an industrial society course in personal effectiveness and a self paced VAX PASCAL language course. I coded in PASCAL and BASIC whilst developing new systems for the tour operating side of the company. In particular, a late booking system.

I worked for a software house that supported and developed packages installed on Davis Langdon & Everest sites (quantity surveyors). The packages included fee rendering, job costing, debtors, staff systems and ledgers. I programmed in Business Basic on Data General MV2000, MV1400 and Model 20's operating under RDOS and AOS.

Heron Managements Ltd June 1982 - March 1988
Position: Contract Analyst/Programmer
Senior Analyst/Programmer from January 1984
I worked on the support and development of packages installed on Heron International sites. These included accounts, stock control, rental and labour systems. They covered subsidiaries involved in the motor trade, house building, video sales and rental.
The main programming language was DBL, with a secondary language of BASIC+, on DEC PDP11's running under TSX and later RSTS/E operating systems. The work included site visits to London, Stockport, St Asaph and Perth.
I also worked on a trailer tracking system used by the subsidiary that imported and shipped Zanussi products, coding in Dbase3 on IBM PC's under MSDOS.

Converting software to Hewlett-Packard 3000 COBOL. Work involved a lot of travelling to sites in Reading and Trowbridge to lease time on machines. Company went into liquidation.

I joined the company after leaving university. I started in data preparation in charge of a team preparing overnight schedules for the Mail Order Operations system. I was sent on a JCL course run by Honeywell.
I joined the first D.P. trainee course started by Littlewoods (12 weeks) for training in COBOL on a Honeywell L66-80 main frame under a GCOS operating system. I worked in the IT department after finishing the initial training course. I spent 3 months with the chain store merchandising group in the development team (coding the new wines & spirits software) before moving to the mail order operations group in the maintenance team. I went on an NCC course in systems analysis run by the Littlewoods training centre (8 weeks) before working in the IT department as a junioranalyst for 2 months.
